Hannah Barnes: NorthWest – A mountain bike adventure through the Scottish Highlands

The British Enduro pro explores the trails and terrain of Scotland’s west coast.
During this summer Hannah Barnes treated herself to a trip of a lifetime. The Scottish-born rider took some time away from the pro Enduro circuit to embark on a 250-mile trip riding her Orange Five MTB across the north-west of Scotland.

Hannah had five days to complete her trip, which started in arguably the most popular mountain bike destination in the UK, Fort William, and ended in Cape Wrath, the most north-westerly point of the UK.

Along the way, Hannah faced a diverse range of riding, conditions and terrain. Even in summer, mountain biking in Scotland isn’t easy.

“We all had such a fun trip, full of laughs and it was a real adventure. We took in such amazing trails, landscapes and people along the way!”

The rewards of such a trip were obvious to Hannah despite the punishing schedule. There were several incredible trails to ride, some of which were set against the backdrop of some truly stunning landscapes. The route took in both unknown trails and popular mountain biking destinations including Glenfinnan, Torridon and Loch Maree.
