CAPE EPIC 2013 STAGE 1

What a start to the 2013 Cape Epic. A very hard stage with lots of running and thick sand. They boys had some technical issues and managed to limit damages. They are now 1,42 min down on the lead.Tomorrow is the Queen stage of 146km. Its going to be a tough day.

CAPE EPIC 2013 STAGE 2

The longest day of the 2013 race sees the riders doing 146km in extreme temperatures. Jaro and Susi had a great race and were leading the breakaways. After the last water point, a broken chain cost them some time, but they made it to the finish in third place.

CAPE EPIC 2013 STAGE 3

They say bad luck come in three’s. Third day of bad luck today. In the final two kilometres, Susi and Jaro took a wrong turn. They built up a solid 2 min lead over the stage and the wrong turn cost them three minutes. They finished the stage in second place, a minute down.

CAPE EPIC 2013 STAGE 4

The Epic wins stage 4 of the Absa Cape Epic! Stage 4 was great for the team of Jaro and Susi. They put the hammer down after the first water point. At the end of the stage, they had a huge lead. Some chaos ensued as some of the chasing teams took a wrong turn, but after all the timing corrections, Team Burry Stander – Songo came out with a 3 min lead! The boys are back in yellow and they will fight till the end to keep it!

Stage 5 of the 2013 Cape Epic was again a great one for team Burry Stander – Songo. Taking the stage win Jaro and Susi gained some more time on the second placed team. With only 2 days to go, things are looking up. This one is for Burry

CAPE EPIC 2013 STAGE 6

The penultimate stage of the 2013 Cape Epic saw the Burry Stander – Songo team of Jaro and Susi open up an even bigger gap on the rest of the teams. The field rode together till the halfway point where the boys put down the hammer. It was an unfortunate day for the second team. Kohei had to withdraw after yesterdays crash. A bruised Max Knox carried on to provide support to Jaro and Susi, if they ran into trouble.

We did it. We won the 2013 Cape Epic on the Epic. Christoph and Jaroslav rode a perfect stage to keep the Yellow Jersey. This one is for Burry Stander, who lost his life on the 3rd of January 2013. We miss and love you Burry.
